| Sound Components offers everything for audio,
video By Amaury Alfonso Sound Components has a custom design team which can provide customers anything from a simple stereo setup to an elaborate home theater entertainment system. One of the premier audio and video dealers in the nation, Sound Components, 1533 Madruga Ave., in Coral Gables, was founded 27 years ago by a recording engineer named Peter McGrath. "Peter and Sound Components helped pioneer a lot of high performance products, and they in essence helped found the Hi-End home audio industry," said Mark Goldman, store president. "For the past 20 years this has been one of the premier audio-video dealers in the nation, and even in the world. Anyone who follows audio-video as a hobby knows of us." Specializing in Hi-End home audio and home theater systems, Sound Components has earned international reputation for its custom design work. With a staff which includes five sales people, a project manager, an engineer and programmer, five custom installers, and a service manager, Sound Components can turn an ordinary room into a complete home theater. "We do a demonstration of the product, because we are really interested in showing performance," Goldman said. "If you are interested in a particular pair of speakers, we bring that pair in and we hook them up. Its a lot more work, but its the only honest way to do it." Goldman, who began working with Sound Components part time 12 years ago, says that he has always been passionate about the audio-video industry. After working with Sound Components for nearly four years and after founding the custom division for the company, Goldman moved to Utah in 1991 and worked as director of sales and marketing for Wilson Audio. Three years ago, Goldman returned to Sound Components after purchasing 51 percent of the business. "The industry today is hot," Goldman said. "And because of all the vendors we work with, we have access to pretty much anything that is desirable." Sound Components can develop and install a custom home theater or home audio system complete with custom made cabinets, upholstery, and keypad control of the entire system (audio, video, drapes, blinds, etc.). They also can assist you in purchasing among other things the latest and best in digital television sets, audio speakers, and DSS satellite dishes. Sound Components is a member of the Custom Electronics Design Installation Association (CEDIA), the Professional Audio Retailers Association (PARA), and is a State of Florida licensed low voltage contractor. Goldman is on the board of directors for PARA, which has about 500 members throughout the United States. "Something people dont realize when they are pulling wiring through their homes is that it requires a permit and licensed contractor," Goldman said. "Many people and companies doing this work arent licensed and cant pull permits." For more information about Sound Components, contact Mark Goldman or a representative at 305-665-4299. |
