Service offers an alternative way to heat swimming pool
By Amaury Alfonso

Pinecrest resident Emery Cox has developed a new way to heat your pool which will make you forget about the utility bills and maintenance expenses associated with permanently installed heaters.

The Cox Mobile Pool Heating System is a self-contained, truck-mounted heating method capable of raising the temperature of a standard 18,500-gallon pool by 11 degrees per hour.

"The purpose of the system is more than just heating," Cox says. "It’s for people who need a pool right away, and it’s designed for those who do not have a heater. About 15 to 20 percent of pool owners don’t have heaters, and of those who have heaters about 20 percent of the heaters don’t work because of the harsh pool conditions."

Cox, who recently patented the system, created what he says is the only mobile pool heating system in the country. Cox said his family name has been prominently associated with the heating industry for over 50 years. The Cox Manufacturing Company Inc. has had a reputation for custom-building and selling high-efficiency, low-maintenance, quality products since 1949.

The system heats the pool through two flexible in and out-flow hoses which are inserted into the water. A three-horsepower primary pump, with the ability of moving 8,000 gallons of water per hour, pulls the water out of the pool to the heating elements. After the water passes through the suction hose, it circulates through the heating unit which then returns the heated water back to the pool via the return hose.

Depending on the weather conditions, this mobile heating can keep your pool warm for days, says Cox, who moved to South Florida from Indiana in 1995.

All heating equipment used in the Cox Mobile Pool Heating Service meet industry and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditioning (ASHRA) standards of safety.
