Nautica update

BY LEE STEPHENS

Nautica International, the small custom builder of Rigid Inflatable Boats, is well known for modern attractive designs.

A new model -- the Nautica RIB 12 Widebody -- bolsters the company's reputation for producing fancy, nice-handling yacht tenders. An equivalent dinghy in looks, comfort and user friendly layout or performance is not easily found on today's market.

The RIB12 Widebody is quite compact, yet has a roomy interior, large-sized seats and a boarding platform on either side of the outboard engine. With the recommended engine size of 25 to 40 horsepower, the boat easily reaches planing speeds with a touch of power.

Nautica's standard equipment list is lengthy and includes items not available as options on similar craft. The console is packed with top-quality matching accessories -- compass, panel, navigation lights, powder coated rail, doors, rocker switches - all well constructed and contoured to fit. The electrical system is identical to those found on Nautica's larger, commercial RIBs, with waterproof rocker switches, circuit breakers, waterproof connection box and color-coded wiring. All cables and wires are bound, tied and enclosed in conduits.

The beautiful styling on the Nautica's "Widebody" series includes a "Euro" console, larger, well-finished interior with large handrails, folding cleats and contoured upholstery. Decks are nonskid with lots of storage compartments. Fuel tanks, as in all the Nautica RIBs, are built-in, with larger sizes for longer range.
