Aquasport, one of the pioneers of the fishing boat
industry, has begun a new page in its 36-year history with the
introduction of its first catamaran.

New Aquasport Tournament Cat has a five-year hull warranty.
The new center-console 161 Tournament Cat has foam
encapsulated fiberglass stringers, a system pioneered by Aquasport.
The boat features a five-year structural hull warranty, an unusual
offering in a catamaran.
Full instrumentation is standard. The cockpit is self-draining and the
new cat is 16-feet-one-inch in length and has a seven-foot beam.
There's a forward casting platform, with storage and
overboard drainage, and two gunwale mounted rod holders in stern with
caps. The all stainless steel deck hardware is thru bolted and there
are storage boxes port and starboard, as well as in the cushioned
console seat.
At the helm there are port and starboard pedestal
seats and there's an eight-gallon lighted livewell, a plexiglass wind
screen and weather resistant switches. The boat comes with a trailer.
With a single OMC 115 Ficht outboard, the 161
Tournament Cat will hit speeds over 40 MPH with the throttle wide
open. Cruising is rated at 25 MPH at 4000 rpm and she'll reach a plane
in four seconds.
With a 115 horsepower J115PL OMC outboard, the 161 Cat retails for
$19,385.
Aquasport has been building fiberglass fishing boats
packed with innovations since 1964. The company had the first line of
center console boats built for the consumer; pioneered the tuna tower
concept for production boats in 1967 and introduced the walk around
cuddy cabin design in 1972.
Six years ago, Aquasport introduced the Aquasport
Center, a molded-in dive platform and a unique stem centered design
incorporating tackle storage, live well, insulated fish well, bait
prep station and transom door.
