| Sweet Donna's Country Store and Restaurant set to open By Ivette Fernandez Even if you are a little bit rock'n'roll, somewhere in all of us there is a place where we long to smell the sweet scent of freshly baked hot apple pies cool off on an open kitchen window sill, where plates are piled high to the sky with warm hearty portions, and where the home cookin' is so good you want to lick the plate clean. Sweet Donna's Country Store/Restaurant and Bakery takes us home, back to that place where we are all just a little bit country. |

| "It took between two to three years from the initial concept of the restaurant idea to its now final stage," Weiser explained. Sweet Donna's Country Store will offer a 240-seat family style restaurant serving perfectly prepared, moderately priced classic American home cooking in a charming family setting. In the country store tradition, patrons can also find homemade jams, breads, candies, and desserts. There is also a Victorian Room, a Shaker-style private dining and party room that can seat sixty. From the menu you can expect entrees such as Southern fried chicken, turkey meatloaf, chicken pot pie, and rotisserie roasted free range turkey. Chef Oudin's signature dishes include country potato and herb pie, vegetable torte, and American salmon hash. The desserts will include a wide selection of homemade pies and deserts which include bread pudding, peach cobbler, strawberry shortcake and New York-style cheesecake. For breakfast and lunch some items offered are fresh tuna burgers, New England clam chowder, and open face country omelet with Virginia ham, chard, potato, and gruyere cheese. Very reasonably priced, the prices average from $8.95 per person for lunch and $16 for dinner. If your mouth isn't watering yet, the bakery features an assortment of freshly baked goods such as country style breads, fruit bars, marble poundcake, low-fat muffins, chocolate chunk buttermilk scones, apple pie, and whole cakes, as well as an assortment of cookies, croissant and pastries. Sweet Donna's at Home, separate to Sweet Donna's Country Store, offers a wide selection of traditional homestyle foods to go. Menu highlights include thick deli-style sandwiches, soups and salads, priced from $2.50 - $6.50. Specialties include fresh salmon sandwiches, country salad, and hearty beef stew. Brad Weiser, a South Florida native and resident of Pinecrest for seven years, was inspired by an idyllic country store located in Coconut Grove that he remembered from his youth. Sometimes it is easy to forget that before Miami was this thriving large cosmopolitan city, it was a small home town full of Southern hospitality. The only restaurant of its kind in South Florida, Weiser and his associates have tapped a bit into the nostalgia of the simple pleasures of our past, when joy came from sharing a delicious home cooked meal surrounded by family and friends.
