SYD SEZ

I have one small favor to ask of each and every reader. Please, sit down now and send me a little good news about you, your family or friends. Thanks.

Attending a wedding is always a pleasure. We all love to see a happy couple. When you have the honor of attending a fairy-tale like wedding it is a privilege. Jodi Michelle Wayner, daughter of Steven and Arlene Wayner married Brian Eric Deichman, son of Melvin and Irene Deichman. The flowers, the room, the bridesmaids and ushers, the music were all wonderful, most of all the people and love that was in the air all night was remarkable. Hundreds of roses filled the rooms. The reception and dinner food was the best I've ever had, the music was the kind you really want to dance to all evening and we did. The families of this young couple are so close. Anyone who has lived in our area for any length of time knows Helen, Max and Ruth, Judge Moie and Elayne Tendrich, Melvin and Sohia Englander, Lloyd and Marian and Al and Ruth Gardner. Of course all the Tendrich cousins were there to mention a few, Howard and Marilyn (Heritage clothes in Sunniland), Jack, Steve, Joanne, Todd and Carol, Chad and Leslie, Richard and Carol Young (Travel Ventures), Barry Wayner and Devon Wayner and many wonderful life long friends. Even the gremlins tried to ruin some things (as Steve said) a more beautiful and loving affair I have never been to. Much love and good luck to this beautiful couple.

Sisters Collaborate to Bring Icelandic Chamber Group to USA Thursday, March11 at 7:30 p.m. Two sisters had an idea: Pinecrest resident Jean Berman Patiky wanted to see her sister, and she wanted to hear her perform in the United States. Nora Kornblueh, Jean's sister, a cellist living in Iceland with her musician husband Oskar Ingolfsson, liked the idea of combining a family visit to the states with a performance by her chamber music group Polaris.

For the past six months the sisters have been tirelessly working to make this dream a reality. Jean suggested the concert idea to Isa Salvador, Lowe Art Museum's Special Events Coordinator, who loved the idea. With the assistance of Ambassador and Mrs. Charles E. Cobb Jr., the Iceland Consulate, the Lowe Art Museum, and corporate sponsors: Icelandair, First Union, and Finlandia Vodka this concert takes place at the Lowe Art Museum on Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.

The Lowe Art Museum is proud to present Polaris: An Evening of Chamber Music featuring six Icelandie musicians who are also three married couples: Nora Kornblueh, cellist, her husband clarinetist Oskar Ingolfsson, narrator of the program, and director of music at the Iceland national radio station; Kjartan Oskarsson, clarinetist, and his wife pianist Hresna Eggertsdottoir, and Alina Dubik, vocalist and husband violinist Zbigniew Dubik. The group will perform the same concert a week earlier in Iceland at the U.S. Ambassador's residence in Reykjavik. All are members of the Iceland Symphony and have performed extensively throughout Europe.

The program features traditional Icelandic folk melodies, music by Bruch, Chopin and Beethoven, and a contemporary piece by Snorri Birgisson. Ambassador Charles E. Cobb Jr., a former ambassador to the Republic of Iceland and former Chairman of the University of Miami Board of Trustees, says that he is "thrilled to welcome Polaris to Miami."

A reception hosted by Thorir Grondal, Honorary Consul to the Republic of Iceland and the Icelandie American Association of South Florida follows the program. Traditional Icelandic foods and sweets will be served.
