Thousands of local religious and day school students filled their
Tzedakah cans with change to help the Greater Miami Jewish
Federation-United Jewish Appeal 2000 campaign.
The money raised in the Tzedakah cans was rolled into packets on
Super Sunday, March 12, a special day when hundreds of volunteers
reached out to fellow Jews in the community and asked them to support
the vital services provided by the Federation and UJA.
The money raised will benefit the elderly, the disabled, Jewish
education, Jewish community centers in Miami-Dade, Israel and 60 other
countries.
"Through this project, we are showing that small change helps
make a big change", said Pinecrest resident and Tzedakah Can
project chair Lisa\ Millhauser.
More than 4,000 cans were distributed in Miami-Dade, 2,000 of them
handed out in the southern end of the county.
