The Theatre Arts League held its annual installation
of officers and its scholarship award ceremony at Bayleen Restaurant
in Grove Isle.

Picture above is the new president of the Theatre Arts League with

University; Holly Glacier, Scholarship Chair; Jeremy Mossman, Sara
Perry and Jackie Schmillen, University of Miami; Gustavo Ortiz, FIU;
Karly Maurer, Tate Tendrio, New World School of the Arts; Jeff
Albertson, Publix; Heather Gallagher, New World and Nikki Dietz, Barry
University.
New officers are Joan Klockars, President; Hilda
Andrews, first vice president; Barbara Murad, second vice president;
Roberts Smiths, recording secretary; Evelyn Krafchuk, treasurer; Ginny
Collins, corresponding secretary; Clare Pawley, parliamentarian; and
Holly Glasier, scholarship chairman.
Thirteen students from the University of Miami,
Florida International University, Barry, the New World and North
campuses of Miami Dade Community College were awarded scholarships to
advance their careers in the field of Theatre.
Jeff Albertson, a local Publix Market store manager,
was on hand to present a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of his store.
Theatre Arts League gives scholarships to local
theater students and in the its 40-year history, the organization has
handed out more than $500,000 in awards.
