Serious anglers are tough to impress when it comes to
sportfishing boats because they've seen most of what boat builders
have to offer.

New Palm Beach sport fisherman from Ocean Master Marine is tournament
ready
But, the new 27-foot Palm Beach model from Ocean
Master Marine raised more than a few eyebrows when it debuted at the
Miami International Boat Show. Many agreed that it is one of the most
fisherman-friendly and tournament-ready boats on the market.
Mark Hauptner, owner and president of the Riviera
Beach yacht building company, said he received 11 orders for the Palm
Beach model during the show.
"Everyone liked the new 27 design, its looks and
the storage capacity," said Hauptner. "They especially liked
the 130-gallon insulated fish box."
The Palm Beach includes no less than ten storage boxes
and compartments, making it ideal for up to four anglers and their
gear. This boat is just what weekend fishermen or even competitors
in the Southern Kingfish Association tournament circuit need.
In addition to the 130-gallon insulated fish box
forward, the boat features two 50-gallon fish boxes aft and a standard
35-gallon livewell that can be customized for more or less capacity.
Two 25-gallon side storage compartments and two 30-gallon storage
boxes in the deck alongside the console offer plenty of room for
tackle and personal necessities. A pair of drop-in, 10-gallon boxes in
the transom are perfect for bait.
The boat's rock-solid construction is a product of the
45 years Hauptner has spent aboard deep water fishing boats and racing
craft. The stringers are full-length from transom to bow, with
bulkheads in between. The inner liners are vinyl ester-bonded to the
stringers and hull sides to provide strength. And the sides are
glassed and epoxied to the gunwale caps to give it a rugged, one-piece
design. Its deep-V hull is extremely stable, providing a surprisingly
soft ride in rough offshore waters.
The Palm Beach is rated for twin 250 hp outboards,
carries 200 gallons of fuel and can be customized to meet anglers'
needs. Options include a high transom for bracketed outboard motors
and a large "super console."
Suggested retail price is $36,177. For more
