Celebrating one's birthday in our town is no small
undertaking, especially when the birthday girl's age ends with a
"five" or a "zero". For some, the challenge is to
find a new and different idea to bring a special friends together.

Pinecrest resident Dana Shear, mother of two boys,
Myles and Brett, owner of Anonymous consignment boutique
(305/443-4331) and Director of Marketing for Shear Homes, recently
celebrated her thirty-fifth birthday in full glory at Stuart
Bornstein's Hotel Place St. Michel June 22.
Thirty two "goddesses" were invited to play
the newest game craze "Go Goddess!" from 9:45 - 11:45 a.m.,
and then consume an elegant lunch given by her husband, developer Gary
Shear.
"Some of my friends and I tested the game out for
its local originators Kelley Werner, Elaine Berkowitz and Ruth Robles
around Hanukah time last year," Dana Shear explained. "The
game asks questions that help provoke thoughts about oneself and helps
to shed light on peoples' different perspectives and issues."
Questions like "Is there something negative in
your life that you would like to share?" or "You're
surrounded by a group of people who
are gossiping and criticizing everyone that they know.
How do you react? . . . Choices: A) Join right in B) Change the

The idea behind the "Go Goddess!" game is to
help women grow and empower themselves by sharing personal matters
others. The divulging process also acts as a bonding experience that
facilitates opening up, sometimes to people that you may have never
known before.
Complete with candles, matches, cards, a mat and game
pieces, there is a true spiritual side to the game, with "looking
inward" theme that has become popular in today's age of
information overload and connection via Internet.
"Gary and I thought that the quaint Hotel Place
St. Michel would be the perfect atmosphere for both the game and
luncheon, " Shear said.
The next day, Dana, husband Gary, her sister, husband
and friends were off to New York for a weekend of more celebration.
What does Dana have to say about her thirty-fifth
milestone? "I feel so fortunate in my life. I have my wonderful
husband, children, sister and girlfriends. I am healthy. I can
definitely say that being thirty-five feels wonderful.
