A TIME FOR CAMP

By Leslie Bowe

Summer is upon us and the Village parks are bustling with activities. The Village of Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the South Dade YMCA, is once again providing summer camp activities at Coral Pine Park for children age four to 12. The 10-week program runs from June 19 through August 25.

The camp offers a variety of activities to keep children busy during the long, hot summer. Early drop off begins at 7:30 a.m., with daily activities starting at 9 a.m. The kids enjoy field games, arts and crafts, water day, board games, swimming, field trips to local attractions and much, much more.

The Village is looking forward to next summer, when Pinecrest Park will be operational, to add new programs. The new park will accommodate camps, community meetings and lots of other recreational fun and games.

Suniland Park is idle this summer because the facilities are not favorable for indoor camp activities. Plans are in the works to renovate the park so that it will be able to accommodate the youth leagues and provide a sports camp for our athletic youngsters.

It is exciting to see the growth of our parks and the development of all the programs that the Village of Pinecrest will be able to provide.

If you would like more information on the summer camp program please call the Village of Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department at 305-234-2116 or the South Dade YMCA at 305-254-0310.
