I would like to offer a very special wish that our Village
of Pinecrest continues on the sound course that Mayor Greer, the Village
Council and Manager Peter Lombardi and his staff have charted.
And I also wish smooth sailing for our new Police Chief John
Hohensee. May he have good success in running our police department,
overcome any personnel problems he may have inherited and that the men in
his command continue to have a high visibility and even more public
awareness.
Some other wishes I have for this millennium year...
-
That we finally get a real town hall to house our
government and police department ...
-
That the Village council works in harmony for the
betterment of our community ...
-
That police Commander Mike Liotti continues as a
steadying influence on our police officers ...

That Village Clerk Guido Inguanzo's positive and helpful
nature continues ...
-
That the Village street-improvement program remains on
schedule ...
-
That Mike Estoff continues his dedicated effort in
guiding our Public Works Department ...
-
That the new Pinecrest Park is finished on time and
within budget, so our kids can be playing baseball and soccer there
before the end of the year ...
-
That the new Pinecrest street signs are in place
throughout the Village by mid-year ...
-
That Mark Antonelli has a wonderful year as chairman of
the board of the Pinecrest/South Dade YMCA ...

to the master plan ...
-
That improvements to Veterans Memorial Wayside Park at
104th Street and Pinecrest Parkway (So. Dixie Highway) transform it into
a lush tropical garden ...
-
That Loren Matthews continues to guide our Parks and
Recreation Department ...
-
That Jose Diaz continues his remarkable effort at
Suniland Park...

Elementary is completed by this summer, in time for the season ...

Sam, Jenny, Letecia and Helen -- have continued success with the
Pinecrest/South Dade YMCA program and that they get an even bigger piece
of the rock for this year's golf tournament ...
-
And a wish for continued growth for David Harper and his
Premier Soccer League ...
-
That the Suniland Optimist 125-pound Sun Devils repeat
as football national champions ...

To my old coacning buddies -- Fred Wasserman, Bill Shaw,
C.P. Youmans, Brad Carnahan and Andrew Dewitt -- a special wish for the
best that life can offer ...
-
That Bill and Martha Diaz continue to enjoy the fruits
of a well-deserved semi-retirement...
-
That the Pinecrest Business Association becomes an
influential and driving force in our community...
-
And a wish for the cheerleaders from the Coral Reef
Broncos of the Pop Warner League, that they improve on their
third-in-the-nation finish and win it all this year...
-
And a very special wish that the Howard Palmetto
Baseball and Softball Association has at least another 38 years of
success in our community...
-
And, there are so many other wishes that I could
continue this column into our next issue and still not finish my list.
Let me just reiterate that I wish you all the very best of everything in
this very special Year 2000.
