Pinecrest Mayor Evelyn Greer and members of the
Village Council broke ground for the new Pinecrest Park on Tuesday,
January 25. The groundbreaking ceremonies took place at the site of
the future park, 12400 SW 82 Avenue. Pinecrest acquired the 10-acre
site last April and hired O'Leary Design and Associates and Wolfberg
Alvarez Partners to prepare a master plan, architectural renderings
and construction documents. Last month, the Village Council awarded
the construction contract to MC Construction Group.

Pinecrest Park will be an active park with
multi-purpose athletic fields, batting cages, a recreation center,

The total estimated cost of the project is $5.85
million, with $3.35 million going for land acquisition and $2.5
million slated for construction.
The Village received a $2.1 million grant from the
Miami-Dade County Safe Neighborhood Parks bond program and $100,000
from the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program.
Construction of Pinecrest Park is scheduled to be
completed by early Fall.
