Summers Professional Painting

BY ARMANDO ROSQUETE

Andy Molshine talks about his business with pride and enthusiasm. As owner of Summers Professional Painting, at 8897 SW 129 Terrace, Molshine has established a reputable painting company that offers top notch service to government, commercial and high-end residential clients.

Summers Painting is ready to paint seven days a week, 24 hours a day off

Summers Painting has grown sevenfold since Molshine bought the company from his stepfather Jim Summers, in the early sixties.

Molshine's stepfather, Jim Summers, started the business in 1959 and upon his retirement Molshine made a bid to purchase the painting company.

At the time, Molshine was working in Eastern Airline's accounting department and decided to switch gears and change careers. Since then, Summers Professional Painting has secured working relationships with big players such as Bell South, Florida Power and Light, Victoria's Secret and the Catholic Archdiocese. At any given time, the company works 40 job sites from Key West to West Palm Beach.

The sites are distributed into two divisions, commercial and residential. The success of the commercial division is attributed to the growth plan that Molshine implemented when he assumed control.

Throughout the years, Summers Professional painting has worked to build alliances with general contractors and companies. Summers rarely advertises and acquires much of its work through word-of-mouth recommendation from its clientele. "We credit our success to the loyalty of our customers and it's something that we really pride ourselves on," Molshine said.

He credits his staff for the company's success. Al Valdes, who serves as Molshine's right-hand man, runs the crews and works with the customers. The person in charge of Summers' fast-paced sales is Roland Macias. Together, the trio keeps Summers on the cutting edge of the painting business.

Part of this edge is Summers extensive restoration work. The company helped restore the Barnacle Historical Site in Coconut Grove, the Fairchild home and the Wolfsonian Museum. This caliber of high-quality work helps explain Summers high level of customer loyalty.

Despite his success, Molshine emphasizes the need to stay competitive in the current business market. In the future, he hopes to continue his alliance-building strategy and to attract more companies.

Molshine says this was a banner year and the company reached it's highest level of revenues ever.

"Based on our current customer focus," he said, "we'll hopefully continue to grow and service the surrounding community."
