Some of the Brownies from Pinecrest's Troop 37 are
seen with many of the books they collected in their month-long book
drive. The Brownies decorated collection boxes in bright colors and
strategically placed them in area schools and churches, then ran
newspaper ads asking residents to donate their old books.
The girls collected about 900 books, then donated half
of them to the Kids for Kids program in Country Walk and divided the
remainder between Haven for Hope and a Florida City community outreach
program for needy families. The Browines are (front row left to right)
