Bob Hewes has it Angler Boats names Old-Line Miami Dade Dealer

BY LEE STEPHENS

Miami-based Angler Boat Corp. has named Bob Hewes Boats, an almost 70-year-old South Florida institution, as Angler's Miami-Dade dealer, said Angler founder and CEO Elio Grillo. Along with 14 other Angler models on-site at both locations, Bob Hewes Boats is introducing the affordable, feature-laden new Angler 2400 CC, a highly functional, full-transom center console that is family-friendly, value-conscious and rigged to fish.

"Bob Hewes Boats is known for top quality service, a very knowledgeable sales staff and a great selection of boats, plus more than 70 years' experience in the boating industry," Grillo said. "We are proud to join Angler's good name with theirs."

"The new generation of Anglers is here," said Jim Wiborg, president and owner of Bob Hewes Boats and a son-in-law of the company's namesake. "We can now offer customers the latest Anglers and the same Bob Hewes approach to boat sales that has been unbeatable in Miami for almost 70 years. We sell the customer the best product to do the job he needs to do for the least amount of money."

A native Miamian, Wiborg graduated from Miami Edison High School and married Hewes' daughter Lorrie. In 1974 he started working for Bob Hewes Boats. He purchased the company in 1988, added the Yamaha line in 1989 and was named Yamaha's top U.S. dealer in 1995 and 1996. Bob Hewes Boats has ranked among the "Top Ten" dealers for Yamaha, Johnson and Honda products since the mid-1980's.

"We give three tests to every boat that comes in," Wiborg said. "The first is in the shop, then a qualified mechanic conducts an in-water trial. The boat's third test is with the customer in the water. Together we thoroughly check out the boat, motor and trailer. If the customer's not 100 percent satisfied, the contract is torn up and the deposit refunded."
