With the "best interests of the citizens and residents of the Village," we have arranged for extended use of the Palmetto Middle School Athletic Fields for soccer through February 8, 2000. Leagues were put on notice that all terms and conditions of the contract must be followed if they want the Village's permission for future use. By the way, construction will take place over the summer for soccer fields at Pinecrest Elementary. After many calls and letters regarding vehicular speeding throughout the Village, a request for proposals for a consultant will be issued in order to develop a traffic calming study. Sixteen architectural firms showed interest in proving conceptual designs for our Pinecrest Municipal Center. The top ranking firms will present their concepts for the Council and public opinion in the next few weeks. Come to Village Hall to review these concepts and share your input. Harper Partners' Architects presentation for the Red Road/Old Cutler Linear Park seemed a bit farfetched for Pinecrest so they'll return with a simpler plan to more naturally blend to our community. I would hope that they now understand that we love Disney World, and have no desire to implement it's concept in Pinecrest. In order to promote community identity, 50% of the power poles along Pinecrest Parkway (formerly South Dixie Highway) will have banners installed welcoming all to the Village of Pinecrest and celebrating the year 2000. I was very pleased to receive a letter of concern from Ian Wallace. The Public Works staff are looking into the matter and I appreciated hearing this from you. Thank you for your continued support of the Village of Pinecrest and its Council. I can be reached at 305-234-8299, P.O. Box 561022, Pinecrest, Florida 33256-1022, e-mail: les@shadow.net . |
