Renaissance Marine Inc., owned and operated by a husband and wife team, William D. Ratlieff Jr. and Mai Thi Ratlieff, was founded in February 1996, after several years of research on power catamarans and designing of the current Prowler.

Ratlieff, an avid fisherman and diver, was tired of the cluttered deck space and wet, pounding rides that the conventional monohulls have to offer. He discovered the existence of power catamarans and found that they offer the smooth ride that he was looking for over monohull boats, even over the deep "V" hulls.

However, the available power cats continue to give a wet ride, due to a condition known as "tunnel sneeze." These cats also lack the top end speed, fuel efficiency, accessible storage, open deck space, and style.

Realizing the needs for a "perfect boat," Ratlieff came up with the perfect design to meet all the fishing and diving needs, and to cure all the shortcomings of a typical power catamaran.

Unlike a typical fishing cat, the Prowler delivers a sleek Euro style design to be the best-looking cat that makes you stand out from the crowd. It offers ample storage below deck from bow to stern to give you wide open deck space for plenty of fishing room. It delivers superb efficiency as well as over whelming performance with its unique hull design and its lightweight hull. The Prowler was built from the ground up.
