The
signs, they are a changin’! That’s
the word from City Hall. New and larger street signs soon will go up
throughout the Village. “It’s
not a radical change, but it will build a sense of community identity,”
said Guido Inguanzo, the Village Clerk. “The program was developed when
the council did the master plan and one of the things that it showed was an
interest by the residents to create a sense of identity in the Village.” The
new signs will be green and white, carry the Pinecrest seal and hold
lettering six-inches tall, making them easier to read and more legible from
a distance, while meeting the latest minimum federal Department of
Transportation specifications. “We’ll
put the signs on some sort of decorative post,” said Inguanzo, “which
could be something as simple as a nice, round green aluminum post, as
opposed to the typical U-channel post that the county puts its signs on.”
Inguanzo
said the project is budgeted for $240,000 and that it would be put out for
bid before the end of the year.
