Everyone
is smiling at Dade Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth in south Miami-Dade County, as
September sales figures put the dealership at the head of the class in the
county.
“We
sold more new cars than any of the other Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth dealer in
Miami-Dade County last month,” said William “Bill” Lewis, general
sales manager. “We sold a total of 123 vehicles in September and that
was 160 percent over what we did in the same month last year.”
Lewis
said it was the first time since he took the reins of the dealership 18
months ago that Dade Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth, 15895 S. Dixie Highway,
topped all other similar county dealerships. Dade
Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth is owned by veteran South Florida auto dealers Jeff
and Marty Kaye, brothers originally from Ohio. The Kayes have owned a
dealership in Plantation for many years and bought the Dade Jeep franchise
from The Collection in 1992, then added Chrysler and Plymouth to the mix. Lewis
said that his dealership is moving up in the national ranks of
Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth dealers. “Right
now, for the year, we’re 189 units over what they [management] expected
us to do,” Lewis said. “We’re at 121 in the nation for all 250
Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth dealers and that’s much better than we were a
year ago.” Lewis
said one reason for the stepped-up sales at his dealership is the
introduction of the hot new Prowler, selling for about $65,000. And, he
said the introduction next year of the PT Cruiser should be another sales
boost. “We’re
taking orders right now on the PT Cruiser,” he said. “It’s going to
be a hot seller, priced in the mid-20s.” Lewis
said Dade Jeep-Chrysler-Plymouth was the first dealership in Miami-Dade to
be certified as a coveted five-star dealer by Chrysler Corporation. “It
takes a lot to become a five-star dealer,” Lewis said. “It’s a big
thing with Chrysler and it means that our focus is on customer
satisfaction. We were the first Jeep store to be certified in Dade County
and we were the first to be re-certified again this year.” For
