School may be out, but that doesn't mean Pinecrest
parents, grandparents, neighbors, teachers and friends can't raise
money throughout the summer to support the kids and their schools.
Participating Pinecrest schools earn money when
parents and community members shop online with Shopforschool.com.
Several Miami-Dade County schools have partnered with
Shopforschool.com in an easy, safe, free way to raise money for
schools. In fact, some schools already have received checks from
Shopforschool.com and have worked with school coordinators, local
Parent Teacher Organizations and Parent Teacher Associations to
institute the program and encourage supporters to shop online through
the site.
"Many schools are very enthusiastic about the
potential to earn money for their programs through Shopforschool.com,"
said Rick Brewer, the local Shopforschool.com account manager.
Brewer says a partnership with Shopforschool.com is a
win-win situation for both schools and parents.
"It's a great tool for schools because it's
simple and cost-free," he said. "Parents like it because
they can shop online for items they truly want and need, and support
their child's school at the same time. Parents also appreciate that
with Shopforschool.com their kids aren't going door-to-door selling
something or spending time away from homework to fund-raise. Plus, the
Internet is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So, people can
shop at their leisure and without pressure."
Shopforschool.com offers shopping options from more
than 100 name-brand merchants, including Gap, FTD.com, Lands End,
Espirit, Hallmark and Barnes and Noble.
Each time a shopper makes a purchase through
Shopforschool.com, as much as 25 percent of the purchase price is
donated to the school of the shopper's choice.
