Capt. Jim Anson, at the tiller, takes a group
of anglers fishing in the Everglades back country

The hotspot of the month for peacock bass and
largemouth bass is at the Snapper Creek Canal.
Located at 107th Avenue and 72nd Street, Snapper Creek
Canal runs east and west. There are a lot of good spots for fishing
and they're easy to find just by walking along the bank. There are
plenty of places to park, too. The best time to fish seems to be from
9 a.m. to about 6 p.m., and sometimes even later into the evening.
If you need bait or lures the Fishing Line, at 9379 SW
56 Street, is a good place and it's near by. Bull's Eye Bait and
Tackle, at 8940 SW 40 Street, is another good spot.
For more information about fresh and saltwater fishing
tune in to the Florida Sportsman Show Live on WAXY, 790 AM, Saturday
morning from 8-9. You can call in with any questions at 305-930-0790
and we will be glad to help you.
By the way, for those of you who have asked, I have
been using the Daiwa Emblem reel with Ande six-pound test green line.
I use about 12 inches of 15-pound test line for leader and a number
eight hook.
CELEBRITY ANGLERS CHALLENGE
The Celebrity Anglers Challenge is set for November 8-9. This
remarkable event, the first of its kind, will not only provide you
with an opportunity to sport fish with the best anglers, but also will
put you in touch with some of the hottest race professionals on the
NASCAR circuit.
This is an exciting charitable event that will benefit
the Miami Project, the Darrell Gwynn Fund to Cure Paralysis and the
Homestead Hospital Children's Emergency Center.
Please make note that the kick-off in the Chalet area
of the Miami-Homestead Speedway will be November 8 and the tournament
will be held the next day, beginning at the Cocoplum Yacht Club and
Marina. Please be advised that there will be only 35 registrations
accepted for this exclusive event. It is very important that your
registration and payment are received as soon as possible to ensure
your participation.
Make plans for a well-deserved respite and enjoy the
magic that only South Florida has to offer. At the same time, you will
be helping two very worthwhile causes. We look forward to having you
