Aquasport, one of the oldest builders of small fishing
boats, is introducing a new catamaran hull, the 230 Tournament Cat, a
boat the manufacturer says is 'heavy on fishability.'
The 230 Tournament Cat is a highly stable fishing
platform able to skim along at just over 50 miles an hour at 5100 rpm,
using a pair of 135 hp OMC FICHT engines. Cruising speed is about 39
mph at 4000 rpm and the cat pops up on plane in 3.92 seconds.
Some of the key features of the Aquasport 230 include
fish boxes with overboard pump out and recessed lockable rod boxes on
the port and starboard sides. There are storage boxes port and
starboard, too, a pair of stainless steel gunwale mounted rod holders,
through-bolted stainless steel deck hardware and the fiberglass
cockpit is self-draining, with a non-skid deck.
The boat has a high-density transom with fiberglass
encapsulated foam stringers. There is a door in the transom for easy
access to a molded dive platform. The heavy-duty dive ladder is
removable.
The 230's hull carries a five-year structural warranty
that is transferable.
The Aquasport center includes an insulated and lighted
round bait well with overboard drain, a raw water wash system and a
watertight tackle locker.
There are port and starboard pedestal seats and a
forward console seat with cushion. The center console has a
compartment for a self-contained head.
Aquasport has been building fiberglass fishing boats
packed with innovations since 1964. It had the first line of center
console boats built for the consumer and the company pioneered the
tuna tower concept for production boats in 1967. And, in 1972,
fishing-boat design changed forever with Aquasport's walk around cuddy
cabin design.
Just six years ago, Aquasport introduced the
Aqua-Center, a molded dive platform and a unique stem design
incorporating tackle storage, live well, insulated fish well, bait
prep station and transom door.
