When
you're looking for a home, you'll probably want to see at least five
and perhaps as many as 15 before you select one to make an offer on.
How many homes you see will depend on how much time you have, how much
information you require to make a comfortable decision and how much
patience you have. How can you make the most of your time and effort?
To get maximum results, use a systematic approach when
you choose the home you want to see. Work with your Realtor to cluster
appointments and locations. Be sure to allow time to gather your
thoughts in between showings and MAKE NOTES, perhaps stopping for a
soda somewhere in your itinerary.
You will work with your Realtor to create a list of
wants and needs, must-haves and won't-dos, which will help zero in on
just the kind of property you're looking for. Being specific about the
number of bedrooms and baths, square footage and all amenities will
help focus the search.
As you view each property, take good notes on each,
detailing what did and did not work for you. Try to bring a camera
with you, it will come in handy. Remember, we have to get permission
to take photographs. Such a record of the homes you see is
particularly helpful if you're looking out of town and would like to
share them with the family members who aren't able to come along.
Knowing what you want, communicating with your Realtor
and taking good notes along the way will minimize aggravation, make
excellent use of your time and lead you ultimately to just the right
home for you and your family.
