Frank Aparicio is glad people don't recognize him
anymore. It's not because he's running from the law or in some witness
protection program Aparicio made a big change in his appearance
simply because he decided that he had waited long enough.

After 20 years of balding, he made an appointment with
Miami facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, President of the
Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, to have
a hair transplant.

"I wasn't crazy about those old hair plugs,"
said Aparicio. "I wanted something that looked really good. I now
have two hair transplants that look very natural and it's made such a
big difference in my life."

Epstein uses the latest advances in hair restoration,
so most patients are treated in just one or two procedures. He's also
a recognized expert in the treatment of hair loss in women, so his
female patients feel a sense of confidence in the doctor. Unlike most
doctors performing hair transplantation, Dr. Epstein is able to bring
his background and experience in plastic surgery into the sub-speciality
of hair restoration.
And that's just what Alina Alonso was looking for when
she decided to have something done about her hair loss. She is
delighted these days to be able to hold her head up proudly in
beauty-sensitive Hispanic circles of her world.
Alonso was brought up in a society where beauty and
looks are all-important and "it doesn't matter how old we get,
our hair has to look good." When her hair started thinning, she
knew she had to do something. She bought a hairpiece as a quick and
easy solution. But it didn't do the job "and that empty space on
my head scared me every morning when I looked in the mirror."
Although in her 60s, Alonso never misses her weekly
hair salon appointment. Specialists there pointed her to Dr. Epstein.
She's had two hair transplants, with a third coming up. She says she
is overjoyed with the results and her feminine vanity is showing
through.
"I see these little 80-year-old ladies on the way
to the salons," she said. "I want to look that good when I
am that old."
Age seems to be a common denominator in the whole
process. In fact, for Matthew Kaskel it was the doctor's relative
youth and his experience in only the modern techniques that drew him
to Epstein's South Miami office, and the fact that he knew the doctor
had a good reputation for fixing bad hair transplants.
"I had these big, awful, nasty plugs and I wasn't
happy with what had been done," said Kaskel. "I lived with
the plugs for about 8 years, until I started hearing about all the
latest advances. I had no idea doctors were using such advanced
technology."
Kaskel was referred by a plastic surgeon to see
Epstein several years ago to have his hair plugs removed and have a
micrograft performed.
"I had the procedure done for my own personal
gratification and I was really impressed with Dr. Epstein's
techniques," Kaskel said.
The procedures performed by Epstein are indeed
breakthroughs. As testimony to his reputation, almost one-third of his
patients travel to South Florida for his work, the majority coming
from Latin America.
Antonio Dalmau, from Ecuador, is one such patient.
Dalmau has gone from being bald to having a full head of hair after
only two procedures with Dr. Epstein.
"No one in my country is able to obtain such
results," said Dalmau. "Traveling to Miami to be assured of
getting the best hair restoration is a very small price to pay."
Dr. Epstein is a fellow of the American College of
Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Facial Plastic &
Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is
listed by the American Board of Hair Restoration that certifies
physicians who excel in performing surgical hair restoration. For more
