With the price of gasoline skyrocketing to almost $2 a
gallon of late, I guess it was only right that someone had to bring
everything into perspective. So, here's a copy of an email that was sent to
me this past week that the unknown author attributed to a well-known
automobile publication. I pass it along for your consideration.
So, you think a gallon of gasoline is expensive? Well, here
area few things that Autoweek brought to our attention to compare. This is
what it costs to buy a gallon of:
-
Diet Snapple 16oz for $1.29 equals $10.3212 per
gallon
-
Lipton Ice Tea 16oz for $1.19 equals $9.52 per
gallon
-
Gatorade 20oz for $1.59 equals $10.17 per gallon
-
Ocean Spray 16oz for $1.25 equals $10.00 per
gallon
-
Quart of milk 16oz for $1.59 equals $6.32 per
gallon
-
STP Brake Fluid 12oz for $3.15 equals $33.60 per gallon
-
Vick's Nyquil 6oz for $8.35 equals $178.18 per
gallon
-
Pepto Bismol 4oz for $3.85 equals $123.20 per
gallon
-
Whiteout 7oz for $1.39 equals $264.17 per gallon
-
Scope 1.5oz for $0.99 equals $84.84 per gallon
-
And this is the REAL KICKER, nine ounces of Evian water
for $1.49 equals $ 21.19 per gallon. $21.19 a gallon for WATER!
You get the idea? So, the next time you're at the pump, be
glad your car doesn't run on Nyquil, or Scope, or Whiteout, or Evian water!
Meantime, there's also a call on the Internet for another
'gas out' April 7-9 to try and force the price of gas down. Organizers want
motorists in the United States and Canada to stop buying gas in that
three-day period to send a message to the oil-producing companies. Last
year, there was a one-day 'gas out' and prices did start to come down soon
thereafter. Coincidence?
We simply pass this information along for general
consumption. I, for one, still haven't made up my mind whether to
participate. I, too, am glad that I don't have to fill up my car's tank with
Nyquil.
