There have been two recent robberies of women in Pinecrest
committed while they were walking in their neighborhoods in the
morning for exercise. In both incidents the victims were wearing
expensive jewelry.
The first robbery occurredFeb. 29 at 10:00 am in the area of SW 61
Avenue and 129 Street. The victim wearing an expensive watch. The
thieves drove by the victim slowly, stopped, got out of the car,
chased her down and tackled her. They took her watch and drove away.
The second robbery occurred on March 13 at 11:45 am in the area of
SW 69 Avenue and 96 Street. The victims were two females walking in
the neighborhood. Both were wearing expensive watches. The bandits
stopped and got out of their car, pushed the women to the ground, then
stole their watches and a platinum and diamond necklace.
In both incidents the offenders were described as four heavy set
black males wearing coats. The vehicle in both incidents was dark
green with dark tinted windows.
The thieves were cruising through the neighborhood looking for
walkers and joggers wearing expensive jewelry.
Police say residents need to be especially aware when they go out
in public, especially in the mornings when many people are not at
home.
